His Most Reverend Excellency Monsignor Dominique-Marie DAVID received in the Archbishopric the new Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to the Principality of Monaco, Alberto di Luca.
It was an opportunity to recall the historical and ancient relationships that bind the Catholic Church to the Sovereign Order of Malta. In 1113, Pope Pascal II officially recognized the monastic community of the Hospitallers of Saint John, born in Jerusalem several decades before. He did it through a document addressed to Blessed Fra’ Gerard, founder and first Grand Master of the Order. This document – known by the first words of the text itself, Pie Postulatio Voluntatis – was a fundamental element in the development of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, best known today as the Sovereign Order of Malta.
Topical issues were also discussed, and the Ambassador di Luca presented to Archbishop David the project “Make a WISH to the Order of Malta”, just launched in the Principality.
The cordial meeting ended with the best wishes of H.M.R.E. Monsignor David to H.E.M. Alberto di Luca.
