23/04/2024

The Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to the Principality of Monaco is promoting an international project called “Make a WISH to the Order of Malta for Education” in collaboration with the “Monaco Mouse Trap Car Race” (https://www.mousetraprace.com/about-us). High school students are invited to promote Science and Engineering with a fun race among model cars designed and built and powered from a real mouse trap.

“Monaco Mousetrap Car Grand Prix” is organized under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, with the collaboration of the Automobile Club of Monaco, Riva Monaco Boat Service and Engeco. The race will take place on May 13th, 2024, after the students will have been able to attend the historic Grand Prix on the Monte-Carlo circuit, on Sunday.

The project of the Embassy of the Order of Malta, in collaboration with the “Mouse Trap Car Race”, is part of one of the missions of the Sovereign Order of Malta and with the United Nations 2020 Agenda Nations: “eliminate gender inequalities and promote access to education and training, even for the most vulnerable, by ensuring that young people acquire sufficient and consolidated basic language and mathematical skills.”

The first to participate in this edition will be two students, accompanied by their teacher, from Belgrade, thanks to the Embassy of the Order of Malta in Serbia.

For the 2025 edition, we are already in contact with other interested Embassies.

The Sovereign Order of Malta is one of the oldest institutions of Western and Christian civilisation. A lay religious order of the Catholic Church since 1113 and a subject of international law, the Sovereign Order of Malta has diplomatic relations with over 113 states and the European Union, and permanent observer status at the United Nations. It is neutral, impartial and apolitical.

Today, the Order of Malta is active in 120 countries caring for people in need through its medical, social and humanitarian works. Across the world, the Order of Malta is dedicated to the preservation of human dignity and the care of all those in need, regardless of their origin or religion.
