On Thursday, 11 April, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco received at the Prince’s Palace H.E. Ambassador Alberto di Luca for the presentation of the Letters of Credence.
During the cordial meeting with the Sovereign Prince, Ambassador di Luca conveyed the greetings of Grand Master Fra’ John T. Dunlap and shared the common objectives that bind the Principality and the Sovereign Order of Malta on the theme of solidarity and international cooperation. H.E. Christophe Steiner (Chief of Staff) was present during this meeting.
An auspicious toast was then held with the participation of Isabelle Berro-Amedei (Government Counselor and Minister of Foreign Affairs) and Yvette Lambin Berti (Secretary of State).
At the end of the ceremony, a breakfast was offered by Mrs Marie-Catherine Caruso-Ravera (Director of the Department of Diplomatic and Consular Relations) to the four new accredited Ambassadors.
Thus begins the action – as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to the Principality of Monaco – of the Ambassador di Luca who, in the Principality and from the Principality, will carry out the Order’s centuries-old mission of defending human dignity and helping people in need.
The Sovereign Order of Malta is one of the oldest institutions of Western and Christian civilization. It is a lay religious Order of the Catholic Church, since 1113, and subject of international law. The Sovereign Order of Malta has diplomatic relations with 112 States and with the European Union and has permanent observer status at the United Nations as well as the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) and other international organizations. It is neutral, impartial and apolitical.
