In the heart of the Mediterranean, from one of the world’s smallest yet most influential states, a significant humanitarian initiative is taking shape. The Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Principality of Monaco, in collaboration with an international network of Rotary Clubs, has officially announced the launch of a project to support neonatal healthcare in Bethlehem.
The initiative involves the donation of two state-of-the-art neonatal incubators (total value: €45,000) to the Holy Family Hospital, the only facility in the Bethlehem region equipped to care for premature infants born before the 32nd week of gestation. This hospital, which serves over 60% of the district’s newborns annually, boasts a survival rate of nearly 100% due to the high quality of care provided.
Supported by the Rotary Club of the “Small States” (Monaco and San Marino), the Rotary Club Milano Morimondo Abbazia, Rotary District 2452 (Dubai), and the Rotary Club of Bethlehem, this donation exemplifies international cooperation, a core mission of the Order of Malta. Highlighting its significance, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Monaco, H.E. Alberto di Luca, stated: “This initiative reflects the spirit of Monaco: a country small in size but immense in its ability to build bridges of solidarity worldwide. We thank the Rotary Clubs for their commitment and vision: together, we are saving lives and investing in the future.”
The official delivery of the incubators to Bethlehem is scheduled for February 2026, with the entire project set to be completed by the end of 2025. This ambitious milestone aims to provide lifesaving care to future generations, strengthening maternal and child healthcare in a fragile region in need of hope.
