The Academy’s Director, Luca Masala, together with the Treasurer of La Fondation Princesse Grace, Henri Riey, shared with us the story of Pedro (a fictional name), a 17 year old South American boy, requesting our support within the framework of the “Make a WISH for Education” initiative.

His life has not been easy. Born in Central America, Pedro was abandoned by his mother shortly after birth. She returned to him a few years later, only to abandon him again at the age of eight! Loneliness and the risk of marginalization were his first companions in life. His fate seemed sealed until he met the Director of a dance school. She recognized his potential and offered him an opportunity: an alternative path, a new chance.

At first, dance was just a means of survival: attending lessons meant securing a meal. However, Pedro struggled to accept this reality and often ran away. His teachers would chase him through the streets, trying to bring him back to the studio. Over time, he began to realize that dance was not just a refuge but could be his path to a better future. He participated in competitions, won awards, and discovered that his talent could take him far.

The turning point came with the Académie Princesse Grace. His meeting with Director Luca Masala taught him that talent alone is not enough: discipline, dedication, and courage are essential.
